Our take
I set up the Asus XG49VQ for gaming and productivity. The VA panel delivers deep blacks with the 3000:1 contrast ratio, and 450 nits brightness makes HDR content pop. The 144Hz refresh is buttery smooth, and the 4ms response is fine for most titles. However, at 3840x1080, the height is limited, so you'll see black bars with 16:9 content unless you stretch.
